10 Gadgets That Got Discontinued Recently

Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020 The Nokia Lumia 1020 was discontinued in October 2014. It was also Nokia's first camera smartphone, featuring a 41-megapixel sensor. With its iconic sliding design, it set the benchmark for rival camera smartphones.

Surface 2 With Microsoft recently launched the lower priced Surface 3, it quietly discontinued the Surface 2. The Microsoft Surface 2 made its debut back in 2013, running the company's Windows RT operating system. Unfortunately, the Windows RT-powered Surface 2 failed to see much success.

Nike Fuel

Back in November 2014, Nike decided to discontinue its most successful fitness tracking solution: Nike Fuel. It even fired a bunch of related staff. Nike Fuel's unique combination of hardware and software was a mere experiment in fitness tracking, social fitness and self-assembling athletic competition.

It was touted be the best camera smartphone on the market. But Samsung and its marketing team decided to discontinue the device after less than 6 months.

Google Glass

Google Glass This very gadget was touted to the next big thing in the world of technology. Like many other great products, the Google Glass didn't succeed. Earlier this year, Google announced that they will no longer sell its current version of Google Glass through its Glass Explorer program after Jan. 19. Not just that, Glass will be moving out of the Google X research lab and into a standalone unit.

The first-generation of Moto G, which was available on Flipkart, is no longer being sold. Introduced last year, the Moto G became the company's bestselling device of all time. Later last year, the second-generation Moto G succeeded the original Moto G.

Nokia X Family

Nokia X Family Nokia last year introduced its X series of Android smartphones. All those launched devices under its Nokia X series had one major problem: Nokia's skin on top that makes it look like Windows Phone. The series was supposed to rival the low-end devices running on Android platform, but it didn't happen. Microsoft had to terminate its Nokia X series after only four months, due to poor sales.

The Nexus 5, Google's best-selling Android phone, is no more available for purchase in the market. Last month, Google finally announced they had discontinued the device to promote sales for their latest flagship device - the Nexus 6.

Xiaomi is no more selling the Mi 3 and Redmi 1S in India. These budget-friendly devices from Xiaomi met high demand for both its consumer-friendly price and top-of-the-line specs.

Firefox Smartphones

Since the first-generation of Firefox smartphones were targeted to the younger consumer, we expecting them to be a bit more excited about the phones, but neither recommended the Firefox OS-powered device. Firefox spent a huge sum of money to promote its devices in India and it will go down as one of the biggest flops in the smartphone world.
