Ultra High Speeds, in particular the UHS-1 spec, means that there should be very little lag when transferring data. This feature is crucial for digital photographers, as data write speeds can adversely affect things like burst shot mode when taking still photos or stuttering when recording videos. The new Class 10 UHS-1 SDHC/SDXC cards boast of read speeds up to 90 MB/s and write speeds of 45 MB/s. The Class 10 UHS-1 microSDHC/SDXC cards, on the other hand, have a minimum data rate of 10 MB/s. Of course, that presumes that the device itself is capable of handling UHS-1 data transfers in the first place.
As to storage capacity, the new microSDHC/SDXC cards now reach up to 128 GB, though there are also other capacities available, including 16, 32, and 64 GB. The larger SDHC/SDXC cards naturally have a higher maximum limit, reaching all the way up to 256 GB, with other options starting at 16 GB. Again, for photographers, this means that they can just keep on shooting without having to worry about running out of space quickly. Kingston has not yet announced availability details for the new Class 10 UHS-1 cards, including pricing. But when they do become available for purchase, they will come with the usual Kingston lifetime warranty and free technical support.
