Apple just rolled out its latest update to its Macbook, and probably
the most argued-over feature is that it’s got just one port you have to
use for everything from transferring data to charging the battery. While
the Internet argues over whether this is revolutionary or just stupid,
InfiniteUSB is busy making the thing actually worth using despite Apple’s best efforts.
It’s actually a pretty clever design. It’s essentially a small ribbon
cable, with one end being one of the variety of connectors we need,
from Lightning connectors to micro and mini USB. On the other end is a
USB male and female port. Slot the male end into the port, and plug
anything you want into the female end. The
connectors have small magnets so that they can be clipped together and
the cable stored in a bag or pocket.
Even if you’re not buying Apple’s over-engineered and under considered
toy, you probably still need all the ports you can get your hands on.
And Infinite USB gives you those ports for as little as $14 a pop. Not a
bad deal.
