Lenovo Yoga 700 Convertible Laptop Is Official

Lenovo has launched the Yoga 700 convertible laptop in 11.6" and 14" size options. While similar in looks, the two Yoga 700 offerings are quite different from one another, save from the 1080p resolution on their touch screens and trademark 4 working positions.

The Yoga 700 14" is powered by a Skylake Intel Core i7 with Intel HD Graphics 520. An optional 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M can be added, too. The base model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD, but you can opt in for a 256GB storage.

The laptop weighs 1.6kg with a 4-cell Li-Polymer 45Wh battery. Lenovo has equipped the Yoga 700 with 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a single USB 2.0 (also used for charging), a card reader and an HDMI-out. Stereo speakers and Wi-Fi 802.11ac round up the package.

As for the 11" Yoga 700, it's quite less powerful with an Intel Core m3 CPU and Intel HD Graphics 515. The smaller 40Wh battery has made it lighter at 1.1kg. The 11" Yoga 700 comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage as standard. There's also just a single USB 3.0 port and micro-HDMI port.

Lenovo is pricing the 11" Yoga 700 at $649, while the larger 14" model costs $799. Sales commence from next month.

Due to low insulin level, it is treated with daily insulin injections and a healthy diet. The second type is Type 2 diabetes, here the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin efficiently. Survival step 2: Time-to-time medication

Medicines and injections are very important to manage your diabetes level. Whichever medicines your doctor prescribes for you, take detailed information about its dosage, and follow it the way advised by your doctor. Survival step 3: The right FOOD

Survival step 4: Self-tests

Testing your blood sugar is the next important thing to do. This will give your healthcare the necessary information required so that he can balance between your diet, physical activity and medications accordingly. If your blood sugar falls below 70 or is above 240 more than two times in a week then call your doctor.

Survival step 5: High and low blood sugar

An unbalanced blood sugar level can lead to serious complications. If your blood sugars are low (less than 70) treat it immediately with 15 grams of carbohydrates like 3-4 glucose tablets, ½ juice or 1 cup skimmed milk. After this wait for 15 minutes and retest your blood sugar level. If it is still low then treat it again with 15 grams of carbohydrate. Whereas, if you have high blood sugar level, then test your blood sugar every 4 hours, drink at least 8 glasses of water to prevent dehydration and consume 45-50 grams of carbohydrates every four hours. Examples of 45-50 grams of carbohydrates are orange or grape juice 1 ½ cups, canned fruit 1 ½ cups, toast 3 slice and regular yoghurt 1 cup.

If you have type 1 diabetes and your blood sugar is greater than 240, test for ketones at every meal.

Survival step 6: Preventive exams

Prevent small cuts to convert it into major complications. If you are a diabetic patient even tiny cuts can develop into a major infection that may require amputating that part of your body. Hence, check your feet daily. Go for an eye check up and complete body check up to prevent long term complications.

Don't ignore mini-strokes: Stroke specialist

Leading neurologists and stroke specialists here on Thursday urged women to seek immediate medical attention in case of "mini-strokes" as delaying treatment could increase risk of a major stroke.

"Women are care-givers and so they generally do not pay much attention to slight temporary changes that occur during their activities. Mini-strokes or Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) basically means that brain function is disrupted for a short time (less than 24 hours)," said Nabin Sarkar, senior consultant neurologist and stroke specialist at the Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals here.

"It can last for 30 to 90 minutes and many do not even notice the signs such as sudden numbness in arms or slurred speech etc.," he said.

Sarkar and colleague Shankar Loharuka sounded the alarm bell on the risks associated with mini-strokes.

"One in twelve run the risk of getting a major stroke within 48 hours of TIA and within a week, it increases to ten percent. So instead of taking signs of numbness lightly, women should immediately go to a hospital where stroke management services are available," they said.

In commemoration of World Stroke Day, the experts emphasised the gender-benders when it comes to stroke and its recovery and severity.

"Chances of recovery is less for women as compared to men and even severity is more for women. They are more likely to die of strokes than a man," the experts said, adding community awareness and educating women as well as their partners is important.

They suggested the F.A.S.T. system to remember the sudden signs of stroke: face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty and time to call (the doctor or emergency service).

Samsung Galaxy View Tablet 18.4-inch Display

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy View tablet, was last teased in September at the Berlin IFA 2015 Tech exhibition. Samsung Galaxy View rumored to be priced at $599, a very large screen tablet gets a 18.4-inch display and pretty heavy weighs around 2.65kg.

The Galaxy View features an 18.4-inch LCD display, but unfortunately there is only full HD 1920×1080 screen resolution, slightly lower than 1536×2048 resolution that Samsung was putting on Galaxy Tab S2 tablet line. Former Apple Creative Director Is Huawei's New Chief

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has hired Apple's former creative director Abigail Sarah Brody as its new chief UX designer. She will also be serving as the vice president of Huawei's Device & Consumer division.

A quick look at Brody's LinkedIn profile reveals that she has worked with multiple Fortune 500 companies in her 20 years career. At Apple, she worked with the team that designed iOS 1 for the first-gen iPhone. In addition, she also worked on the company's cloud-storage service iCloud as well as ProKit, which is Apple’s internal professional application design language.

Sony Ends Q3 2015 Profitable Thanks to PlayStation

The company's PlayStation and image sensor divisions are to thank for the $278 million (JPY 33.6 billion) profit. Overall revenue for the quarter is down 0.5% over a year ago to $15.8 billion, partly because of the strong dollar. Operating profit came in at $733 million.

Sony Mobile revenue is also down by 15% from over a year ago reaching $231 for the quarter. Sony surely remembers Q3 2014's loss of $1.58 billion, so this quarter's $172 million isn't as bad. The company explains the low smartphone sales with its "strategic decision not to pursue scale in order to improve profitability."

The game and network services division, from which the PlayStation 4 is part of, rose 16.5% year-over-year and account to $3 billion in revenue and $199 million profit. The company's image sensor division continues to be one of the company's most important parts with $215 million profit on $1.5 billion revenue.

Apple Pay Coming To Canada & Australia This Year

Apple's mobile payments service Pay will be rolled out in Canada and Australia by the end of the ongoing year, and will be expanded to countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Spain early next year.

This was revealed by CEO Tim Cook during the Cupertino-based company's fourth-quarter earnings call yesterday, saying that Apple wants to expand the service to more "key global markets." It's worth mentioning that the service will initially only be available to the owners of American Express cards.

Apple Pay is currently only available in the company's home country of US and the UK, where it was launched back in October and this July, respectively. There is, however, no official confirmation on how many users are currently using the mobile payments service.

Apple Music Dents Pandora's User-base

Pandora's CEO Brian McAndrews said their online music streaming service was largely unaffected by the new competitor. However, it has now been revealed that the launch resulted in Pandora losing 1.3 million active users in Q3.

The revelation was made by McAndrews himself, who also noted that this is approximately the same number of users the company lost when iTunes Radio launched around two-years ago. "I am pleased to say that, given the scale of press and consumer attention on this launch, the impact on our active users and listening hours was muted and was, in fact, consistent with what we experienced during the launch of Apple's radio service in 2013," he said.

Pandora's total user base now stands at 78.1 million - while that's an y-o-y increase of 1.6 million, it's actually a sequential decline of 1.6%. On the other hand, months-old Apple Music currently has a total of around 15 million subscribers, of which an impressive 6.5 million are paying to use it.

A Drug To Cure Baldness

In some good news for people with receding hairlines, scientists have identified new drugs that could stimulate rapid and robust hair growth, offering a potential cure for baldness.

The drugs inhibit a family of enzymes inside hair follicles that are suspended in a resting state, restoring hair growth, researchers said.

In experiments with mouse and human hair follicles, Angela M Christiano from Columbia University Medical Center and colleagues found that drugs that inhibit the Janus kinase (JAK) family of enzymes promote rapid and robust hair growth when directly applied to the skin.

The study raises the possibility that drugs known as JAK inhibitors could be used to restore hair growth in multiple forms of hair loss such as that induced by male pattern baldness, and additional types that occur when hair follicles are trapped in a resting state, the researchers said. Two JAK inhibitors have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

One is approved for treatment of blood diseases (ruxolitinib) and the other is approved for rheumatoid arthritis (tofacitinib).
