isney’s upcoming browser-based game Star Wars: Attack Squadrons has been cancelled following months of closed beta testing

Disney has decided to axe its upcoming space combat game Star Wars: Attack Squadrons in order to concentrate on other Star Wars gaming projects.
Developer Area 52 Games announced the game’s cancellation on the game’s Facebook page.
"After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences," the statement said. "We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta."

Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was announced back in December before it went into closed beta testing in January. The browser-based game was supposed to be a free-to-play, multiplayer format that let 16 players engage in space dogfights featuring iconic vessels like the rebel X-wing and Imperial TIE interceptor.

So far EA hasn’t revealed what Star Wars game Area 52 is working on next, although DICE is currently developing the new Star Wars Battlefront.
Star Wars Battlefront is far from complete, although it will be making an appearance at this year’s E3 in June.
