How Men Can Look Young At 40

The world conspires to help women look young when they hit 40. What about the men? Are they still using whatever products their wives and girl friends bring home, or are they active participants in their own race to look young at 40?

We think, they aren't far behind when it comes to discussing and observing health and fitness routines that are designed to help them look young and fit.

Right from taking care of their skin, to regular pedicures to keeping an eye on their diet, here are simple anti-ageing tips to help men look young, yes - even at 40!

Sun Protection is a must for men

Too much exposure to the sun does real harm to your skin. Harsh sun rays leave no stone unturned when it comes to beating all the mousture and softness your skin. Wearing sunscreen is a must. Overexposure to the sun can cause wrinkles and age spots which will make men look older.

Moisturizing your body well

By now you don't need us to tell you that a moisturizer or a gentle cleanser helps keep skin dryness at bay, making you look a lot younger than your rough and rugged counterparts. Also, you must drink anything between six to eight glasses of water in a day as it helps improve your skin tone. If you engage in a moderate to vigorous workout daily, then look at 10-13 glasses of water a day, especially in the summer months.

Maintain your sleep cycle

All adults need around six to nine hours of sleep in a day. Lack of sleep can result in bags under your eyes, which as a health consequence make men appear much older. Lack of adequate sleep also takes a toll on your skin, and overall health through heavy stress effects.

Say no to smoking

Smoking affects your lungs, your skin, premature greying and wrinkling, besides other severe health issues. It dulls your skin, stains your teeth and reduces your stamins. Quitting smoking should be on the top of any smoker's agenda, and if you want to look young at 40, this is the first habit you need to change.

Eat healthy and exercise regularly

Make sure your day's meal consists of food from all food groups as it'll not only help you in feeling healthy but looking young too. Make sure you are exercising for 30 to 60 minutes in a day. After all by losing those extra pounds you'll look years younger than your counterparts who don't.

Dress your age

Don't be a rigid fashion follower. Dress according to your present body type and not what is 'in' fashion. We say, go with updated classics rather than following fads. For instance, if you are still in love with your college bell-bottoms, then the fashion police is the least of your worries. Also, all that glitters is old. So avoid oversized belts, watches, rings and dress your age.

Do away with unwanted hair

As men age, they tend to get hair in all kinds of unwanted places, especially the ears and nostrils. Keep them trimmed in your drive to look younger. Apart from this, if your hair is turning gray make sure you keep it short and clipped as they'll be less noticeable.

Grow a beard

If you are on the verge of bidding goodbye to middle age, then growing a beard might do the trick for you. It'll help in hiding a sagging neckline. Go for a close cropped or a French beard style as it suits men of any face shape.
