Apple finally bins 2001's iPod Classic

Last night we saw the birth of the Apple iPhone 6, the Apple iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch, an expected boon to the Cupertino product line-up. Away from the main stage though, far from the rampant consumerism of Apple's Keynote, a classic Apple device was secretly snuffed.
Farewell, iPod Classic. The 2001 device has finally been binned by Apple, having provided us with huge storage capacities and super-fun scroll wheels for 13 long years.

Since its launch, the device has been heralded as a keystone in digital music and played a formulative role for all future persona
l music products to come. With 6th generations of iterations behind it, and whopping capacities of 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB, it was a hugely successful device that captured the hearts of consumers worldwide.

The final iteration came in 2009 as a second revision of the 6th-gen iPod Classic. Never again would Apple tinker with its flagship audio device. Unfortunately for the Classic, most now tend to store their music on their smartphones or tablets, or even stream music via services like Spotify, meaning there was little room for the once-mighty device.

It's also an unsurprising move considering Apple has just entered an entirely new product category, namely smartwatches - out with the old, in with the new. If you're already mourning the death of the iPod Classic, why not ease your woes with new Apple wares and check out the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch.
