According to The Verge, the Moto X Pure Edition will be unlocked with a version of Android KitKat free from preloaded carrier apps and services. The upcoming device will also be entirely unbranded, with no carrier names or logos on display. It
will be first in line for the latest Android updates too, so you won’t
have to wait about for approval from carriers or manufacturers.
Motorola has already gone ahead and launched a website for the Pure Edition, boasting that its "pure Android experience delivers the best performance." The
site also says the Pure Edition runs the latest version of Android OS
"free from unnecessary software skins" with "quick access to the latest
updates, so you always enjoy the best Android experience".
However
apart from its refining its OS and removing any branding, Lenovo-owned
Motorola has kept it pretty much the same as the latest Moto X. This
includes Android 4.4, a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display, a 2.5GHz
quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and a 13-megapixel camera.
On the inside there’s a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor quad-core CPU with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It all comes packed inside a new metal frame as well as customizable rear options with wooden and leather casings.
At
the moment it’s unclear where the Moto X Pure Edition will launch
first, but it’s been tipped for a late-September release date.
