Fran Drescher might have starred in a show called "Happily Divorced," but she is now a happily married woman.
Drescher wed Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai before family and friends in an intimate ceremony at their beach house on Sunday, Sept. 7, a rep for the actress confirmed to People magazine. The 56-year-old also announced the news on Twitter.
Drescher and Ayyadurai began dating last year after meeting at an event hosted by physician and author Deepak Chopra. "I was speaking on sages and scientists -- in fact, talking about innovation and the fact that we need to more universally look at the models of innovation," Ayyadurai told HuffPost Live last month.
And Fran heard my talk and we fell in love, and we've been together since that talk. Every day is a celebration with Fran," he added. "Every day is almost a romantic hangout with her. We're always laughing, always enjoying ourselves."
Ayyadurai, 50, is a Massachusetts Institute of Technology alum who is the first person to hold a copyright for "EMAIL," an electronic mail system he began building in 1978 when he was just 14 years old, according to Time. He was granted the copyright in 1982.
