Motorola has announced the Moto 360 has already sold out, less than two and a half hours after going on sale in the US. The highly-anticipated tech timepiece debuted yesterday at the IFA trade show in Berlin and was released online shortly after, but it didn't take long before stock hit rock-bottom.
Motorola beared the bad news on Twitter, regrettably saying that "Unfortunately Moto 360 is sold out" and that "Availability may be limited for a while."
The Android Wear smartwatch was being sold for $249.99 on the Google Play Store, Best Buy’s website and Motorola’s official site, although the device is now listed as out of stock at all three.
Whether Motorola didn't prepare enough Moto 360's for the first wave of sales is unknown, although the company is encouraging budding smartwatch-ers to sign up to be notified when supplies have been replenished.
Although its not the end of the world for US customers, with Re/code saying that Best Buy will start selling the Moto 360 in-store from September 14. UK residents however will have to wait a bit longer, with the Moto 360 landing in early October for £199.
To no surprise many cunning eBay sellers are looking to profit on Motorola's smartwatch stock issues by flogging the timepiece at prices upwards of $400-$500 - so if you're that desperate then by all means take the plunge.
