See how it towers over lesser robots, with tank-like tracks
to help it over the household obstacles that trip many of its rivals.
Tremble as its Dyson cylcone suction, powered by a 104,000rpm digital
motor, collects dust and dirt from hard floors and carpets alike. This,
we reckon, is gonna be good.
There are already umpteen rival robot vacuum cleaners out there, from the excellent (Vorkwerk's VR100) to the truly dire (the Hoover Robo.com2)
to the irritatingly mediocre (er, practically all the other ones). Some
of them navigate pretty smartly.
This, however, should suck big time, and the
navigation, guided by a 360-degree panoramic view taken from a
top-mounted camera, should hopefully match the cleaning power, giving
you something like an autonomous DC59 Animal.
We won't
start hugging ourselves with excitement till we've had a 360 Eye to
test, mind you, and yes, there is one obvious potential issue we can
perceive before we've even seen one in action: its height is much
greater than most robo-vacs, meaning it won't be able to clean under
many sofas and beds.
The 360 Eye is
out in Japan by the end of 2014 and in the UK in Q1 or Q2 of 2015. No
pricing has been announced but we wouldn't exactly fall out of our chair
with surprise if it was in the region of 700 quid. Dyson's website is here (but has no further info at this time. You're welcome).
