    Oatmeal

Nutritionist Dr Zainab Sayed explains, "Brown rice is absorbed slowly and a good source of fibre and carbs while chicken is an ideal form of lean meat and protein. Thus, making this combination ideal before a workout. You would require about 200 to 300 calories hence, you can eat about one medium size bowl of brown rice (30 gm uncooked brown rice) with two pieces of chicken."

    Protein Shakes

    These are very popular among those who hit the gym. Namrata says, "Protein is extremely important for overall development of the muscles, bones and even skin. A protein shake is good if you do not receive adequate amount from natural sources. For athletes and people doing regular workouts, it is fine to have a protein shake after a workout, but not every couple of hours." She warns that protein shakes can have side effects such as kidney damage. Therefore, one must consult the doctor to know the recommended daily dose of protein intake.

    Bananas

    They contain sugar and starch that give energy to the body. They are very rich in carbohydrates. Celebrity trainer Sameer Purohit says, "One medium-sized banana eaten about 45 minutes to an hour before your workout is generally enough to keep you going throughout your workout routine. It's like adding fuel to the body. But each person should understand his body and cater to his/her own body needs."

    Eating a pre-exercise bar means you'll have more reserves during a workout. "Energy bars usually have carbs, which is what gives energy to the body. However, make sure your energy/granola bar has minimum amount of fat, proteins and fibre," says Sameer.

    Yoghurt

    Curds or dahi contain calcium and proteins and a bit of natural sugar present in small quantities. Because it is easy on the stomach and the digestive system, it's a great option to consume it before an intense workout. Adding some whole grain cereal, fruits or honey to yoghurt will give you a quick energy boost.

    Jumping Oblique Twist:

    This move increases your heart rate and helps burn more calories. Not only are you strengthening your core, but also are burning fat at the same time!
    1. Stand with your feet closed together.
    2. Now bring the arms to the front to the shoulder level. Ensure your arms touch each other.
    3. Now jump up a few inches and rotate your feet towards the right side.
    4. As you land, jump up again and rotate feet to the left side. This can be repeated a few times.

    Torso Rotations:

    This works on an entire range of core muscles. You basically need to rotate the torso along the spine while standing. Some people also try it in the seated posture.
    1. Tighten your midsection and exhale as you rotate to one side. Remember that you should twist at the waist and not at your hips.
    2. Pause for a second and then inhale as you revert to the forward-facing position.
    3. Now twist your torso to the other side.
    4. You may also use a medicine ball or resistance bands for adequate resistance.

    High Knee Chops:

    1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Twist to the left and lift one knee up.
    2. Now twist back to the initial position and bring your foot down.
    3. Do this for 15 seconds for each side of the body.

    Waist Pinchers:

    This relatively simple exercise helps you build your abs if followed religiously. If done the right way, you are sure to feel the effect on your obliques. You can burn as much as 75 calories in ten minutes and strengthen your core through this workout!
    1. Start with getting into a comfortable position on the floor.
    2. Now, turn the toes of your left foot out.
    3. Then, bring the left knee upwards till it reaches your left elbow.
    4. Remember to keep your core strong.
    5. Do this for the right side as well.

    Standing Bicycle Kicks:

    This exercise requires you to crunch at your torso, which means you are working out the muscles in your abdomen area. Standing bicycle kicks emulates abdominal exercises that are done lying down, but movements are a lot easier, as you are standing up.
    1. Like the name suggests, stand erect with feet shoulder-width apart. Your hands should be behind the head, and elbows should point outwards. Your knees should be bent a little.
    2. Now, squeeze in your stomach muscles, and raise your right knee.
    3. Twist the body right and lower left elbow down towards the right knee.
    4. Now, revert to the initial pose and repeat the move. Do this on the other side.

    Leaning Lifting Crunch:

    If a six pack ab is all that you can think of, this vertical abs exercise takes you one step closer to that goal! Alternate this exercise with standing bicycle kicks for a complete workout!
    1. You need to stand with your feet kept together. The knees should be bent a little. Keep your arms extended over the head and palms pressed.
    2. Now, turn your torso to the right side, stretching the left side of the body.
    3. Next, squeeze in the abdomen and lean to the left slowly while extending the left leg sidewise. Lift the leg with the pointed toes. Do this on the right side as well. Repeat for a few times.

    Google Maps Gets Offline Navigation Support














    Google Maps for Android has had some sort of offline support for years now, but it’s definitely not good enough for most use cases, in the current iteration at least. At its I/O conference Google has announced that it’s working on bringing better offline support to Maps sometime before the end of this year.

    New Tag Heuer Smartwatch Revealed
















    CEO Jean-Claude Biver revealed that the timepiece will be called the Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01. Biver said the smartwatch will have all the hallmarks of a Tag timepiece. "There is no other choice for Tag Heuer than to have all its DNA, all its watchmaking emotion and flair into the connected watch," he said. "Somehow, one should not see from a certain distance the difference between a Carrera Heuer 01 and a Carrera Wearable 01."

    The device will run Android Wear and be powered by Intel. According to a Tag spokesperson, the idea is to upgrade the device over time, so it's not out of date six months after you buy it. Or as they put it: "We want to change the technology but keep the watch elements." We'll be interested to see how that works.

    Tag previously revealed the Carrera Wearable 01 will cost about $1,400, which translates to £900. That's more than most smartwatches, but not as eye-watering as the priciest models of Apple Watch. It's slated for release in November, and should have a 40-hour battery life.

    Lenovo Cast is a $49 Google Chromecast Competitor

    The Chinese tech giant Lenovo announced its first media casting device. Dubbed Lenovo Cast, the gadget is a rival to the popular Chromecast by Google. Lenovo Cast is a round device shaped like an ice hockey puck, which can be plugged to a TV or monitor via HDMI. With support for streaming 1080p video, the Cast can easily stream content from a mobile device to a large screen.


    The Cast supports dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) Wi-Fi streaming with a range of 20 meters. Any smartphone or tablet supporting DLNA or Miracast standard can be linked to the device and streaming multimedia.

    Apart from streaming videos, the Cast can be used to mirror any content from linked devices. Lenovo Cast is set to launch worldwide in August with $49 price tag.

    Jawbone Sues Fitbit For 'plundering' Product Information















    According to the document filed with California State Court today, Jawbone quotes an unnamed recruiter who said: "Fitbit's objective is to decimate Jawbone." The complaint also mentions a former employee, who continued to work for Jawbone for about a week even after she was hired by Fitbit. The complaint states that she downloaded a "playbook" that outlines the plans for the company's future products.

    Another employee handed in a two weeks notice, without disclosing that he would be joining the company's biggest competitor. He is said to have forwarded confidential information to his private email in direct violation of the company's corporate policy.

    Even though the world of wearable health trackers has been booming, Jawbone's financial state has been under scrutiny off late. As per the lawsuit, they're now seeking financial damages and looking to prevent their former employees from using the information that they're accused of walking away with.

    Fix iOS Text Message Crash Bug Causing iPhone To Reboot

    Apple has confirmed that it's fixing a recently discovered bug that crashes iPhones and other iOS 8 hardware the moment you get a carefully crafted set of Unicode characters in Messages and other communication apps with notification previews.

    It's not clear when that fix will be available, but the only existing safeguard is to turn off those previews. Otherwise, you may have to bend over backwards to make sure that those rogue messages don't cause further chaos. While this isn't the biggest iOS glitch we've seen lately, it's definitely the most annoying.

    How-to Fix iOS Text Message Crash Bug

    Method 1:
    • The person who send you the text can send you another text message essentially canceling out the effect of the first one and with this return your iPhone to normal. This one is only handy if you have other ways of communicating with this person so you can ask them to send you another message.
    Method 2:
    • Sending your self another message can also cancel out the effect of the malicious text. For those wondering, this can be done from your iPad, Mac or even via Siri on your iPhone.
    Method 3:
    • If the same user that sended you the malicious code can send you a picture, it can be used to open the Message app and delete the conversation history, with it the text message and the problem.

    How-to Prevent The iOS Text Message Bug To Affect You

    The methods above are only useful if you have already received the text message, but how can you prevent getting affected by it? The methods bellow can be applied to do just that:

    Method 1:
    • Head over to Settings >  Notifications > Messages Choose the “Show on Lockscreen” option and turn it off. Also make sure to select the Style when unlocked “None” option. This will prevent the notification from causing the issue as explained previously on how the text message works.
    Method 2:
    • Disable the Show in Notification Center option. From the Settings > Notifications > Messages window, Choose Show in notification center and choose “No Recent Items”
    These are all temporary solutions. Apple has confirmed to iMore that it is working on a permanent fix that should be released soon.

    A new research has proposed that drinking two or more alcoholic beverages on a daily basis may damage the heart of elderly people.

    The study conducted at American Heart Association suggested that among men, drinking more than 14 alcoholic beverages weekly (heavy drinking) was linked with enlargement of the wall of the heart's main pumping chamber (left ventricular mass).

    Scott Solomon, M.D., senior author of the study and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and director of noninvasive cardiology at Brigham and Women's in Boston, said that women appeared more susceptible than men to the cardiotoxic effects of alcohol, which might potentially contribute to a higher risk of alcoholic cardiomyopathy, for any given level of alcohol intake.

    Alexandra Goncalves, M.D.; Ph.D., lead author of the study and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Brigham and Women's in Boston, said that in spite of potential benefits of low alcohol intake, their findings highlight the possible hazards to cardiac structure and function by increased amounts of alcohol consumption in the elderly, particularly among women.

    Moderate drinking is generally defined as two drinks a day (beer, wine or liquor) for men and one drink a day for women.

    Apple Planning To Open Factory In India

















    Foxconn, one of the company’s biggest manufacturer, has already taken initial steps to open a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, west India. The states Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has allegedly given the project a green light and views it as a splendid opportunity to open new jobs for the region and boost its economy.

    The new facility might be modeled after Foxconn’s plant in the Henan province. This is indicative of the manufacturing scale the company is preparing to bring to India. The plant should create at least 300,000 new jobs. Needless to say, the expansion is quite favorable for Apple, as well. Besides the obvious new loads and production capacity, the plant itself could be Cupertino’s ticket into the huge emerging market.

    Xiaomi’s Mi Fit app has just received a new update.     These prices come from MobileFun, which lists North American, European and Oceanian prices. In the US the Huawei Watch is priced at $387 with a metal band, $452 with a leather band.
