A father who was arrested after he allegedly tried to bury his young daughter alive in his garden said he did so ‘because she was a girl’. The extraordinary incident took place in Tripura, India, with a shocking image of the ten-year-old girl buried chest-deep shown on NDTV. Abdul Hussein allegedly taped his daughter’s mouth and tied her hands before forcing her into the grave and then piling dirt on her.
But when Hussein’s wife came home she became suspicious about where her daughter was and despite the father placing a bamboo basket over her head, the youngster was quickly found by neighbours. Hussein earned a beating from his neighbours for his alleged actions and was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
