Under Armour launches Cold Gear Infrared with Stealth Bomber tech

Say goodbye to layering this winter with Cold Gear Infrared, exciting new baselayers that are based on the same technology which made the revolutionary Stealth bomber invisible to enemy radar.

Under Armour, the cutting edge sport brand behind Storm Gear, has launched an exciting new baselayer tech just in time for the autumn to kick in. Called Cold Gear Infrared, it's a subtle pattern of ceramic ink applied to the inside of the garments retains body heat, so you stay warmer, longer...with no extra heat or bulk. This versatile technology has been layered into running tops, jackets, hoodies, ski pants, gloves, and hats, so you can now feel the benefit of the technology anyplace, anytime.

At an exclusive launch event in central London Under Armour challenged a wide range of athletes, VIPs and journalists to take on some of the toughest fitness tests around to experience Cold Gear Infrared in action. Locked inside a cold room fitted with heat-sensing cameras, athletes raced against the clock to compete a combination of exercises, as well as stay warm in just a baselayer. However, CGI's technology meant that getting a chill certainly wasn't on the menu!

The technology centres around a ceramic coating, which in Cold Gear Infrared seeks, absorbs, and retains your body’s own heat then circulates to where it’s needed most, but without impacting on breathability or moisture management. Whether you're training for endurance, speed or fun this season, it's a must have to keep you going when the weather wants you to stop!
