Tesla Unveils Model X, The Fastest SUV In History

The Model X is an all-wheel drive SUV with bags of interior space (it comes in six and seven seat layouts), a raft of safety features and the ability to tow anything that weighs up to 2,270kg, but unlike most family cars it’s also fast. Incredibly fast.

The P90D model does 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds in its standard setup, but give it the aptly-named “Ludicrous Speed Upgrade” and it’ll shave that down to 3.2 seconds.

That’s the same as a Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4, and just 0.2 seconds slower than a Ferrari 488 GTB. Even the “regular” 90D model will hit 60mph from a standing starting in 4.8 seconds.

The top speed for both the P90D and the 90D models is 155mph, and they have long ranges too: 250 miles and 257 miles on a full charge respectively.

Tesla is yet to release UK pricing, but in the US the Model X P90D will range from US$132,000 (£87,000) to US$144,000 (£95,000), depending on options. The 90D model will be cheaper – just a little more than the Model S saloon – but Tesla hasn’t even confirmed a US price at the time of writing. Both models come with an eight-year unlimited mile warranty.

How To Cancel Apple Music After Your 3-month Free Trial

Pick up your iOS device of choice (feel free to use whichever hand you like), and open up the Apple Music app. So far so good.

Hit up the face icon in the top left, and you'll be presented with your account page, after which you should tap on 'View Apple ID'. Enter your password, and boom, you've just hacked into the mainframe.

From here, press 'Manage' in the subscriptions area, and you'll have a list of all of your subscriptions. Hit up Apple Music, and slide the 'Automatic Renewal' option to 'Off'.

Congratulations, you have nullified your Apple Music trial, and you won't be charged unless you flick that switch to 'On'.

5 Things You Must Know The New Google Chromecast

Faster

reduces buffering and enables more of what you stream to play back at higher resolutions. Anyone who’s used the original Chromecast extensively will know that it could drop its video streams to lower resolutions at times, but that should happen less frequently with the new model.

It Supports More Apps

  • Google says that thousands of mobile apps will now be Cast-friendly, making it more likely that whatever you’re doing on your phone or tablet will be shareable on the big screen.
  • New Cast-enabled apps include Spotify, Google Photos and BBC iPlayer Radio, joining existing ones such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, YouTube and BT Sport. As before, Cast works with Android and iOS devices, as well as Windows, Mac and Chromebook computers.

Its Prettier

  • Google's also revamped its screensaver-esque backdrop mode – you know, the feature which put a randomised feed of nice photos on your TV screen when you weren’t casting anything. Before, it was a case of 'you get what you’re given', but with the 2015 Chromecast there are options for customising the backdrop, including the ability to have your own pictures (from Facebook or Flickr) used in the big screen slideshow.

Its Easier To Find Stuff To Cast

  • The app is now a place where you can browse for things to Cast on to your TV, with the new 'What's On' feature showing you content from all of your Cast-enabled services. So, for instance, it'll showcase a selection of new content from YouTube, Netflix and so on.
  • It'll also alert you to new third-party apps that support the Cast function and provide a handy list of all Cast-compatible apps you already have.

Its Got New Gaming Smarts

  • Everyone can use their phone or tablet as a gamepad, as Chromecast still supports a 'guest mode' that automatically allows anyone on your Wi-Fi network to control the device.
  • Early titles include Angry Birds Go!, WGT Golf and Driver Speedboat Paradise.

GoPro New HERO+ with Wi-Fi, Drops HERO4

GoPro has announced a new model in its entry-level HERO series of cameras. Previously, there was just the HERO, which was the company's cheapest camera at $129.99 but if you wanted Wi-Fi connectivity you would have to shell out for the more expensive HERO+ LCD, which was a lot more expensive at $299.99.

Now, the company has a new model, the HERO+, which sits conveniently between the two. The HERO+ lacks the LCD of the more expensive model but adds Wi-Fi support so you can connect to your phone and control it remotely or transfer images and videos wirelessly. The HERO+ is priced at $199.99.

GoPro recently launched the HERO4 Session, the company's smallest camera yet, at a rather high $399.99. GoPro has now slashed the price by a $100, making it a lot more affordable at $299.99.
The GoPro series now includes the HERO4 Session, HERO4 Black, HERO4 Silver, HERO+ LCD, HERO+, and the HERO.

Microsoft To Bring cheap broadband to 500000 Indian villages

The Indian Government's Digital India initiative has received a major boost as software giant Microsoft has announced that it plans to work with the former to bring cheap broadband technology to 500,000 villages in the country. The partnership could prove to be a game changer for India, where around 70% of the population lives in over 600,000 villages.

Nadella also said that the Redmond, Washington-based company will announce the availability of its cloud services operating out of the Asian country's data centers. "A key part of both Make in India and Digital India, bringing world class infrastructure into India, respecting India's digital security, sovereignty and privacy is a key milestone for us," he added.

The announcement from Microsoft comes after Google announced its plans to deliver high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 train station across India.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Will Hit Nexus Devices on October 5

Google is expected to roll out Android Marshmallow to its Nexus devices starting on the 5th of October. Google will also announce new smartphones like the Nexus 5X(LG) and the Nexus 6P (Huawei) with Android 6.0 out of the box. So it makes sense to believe that those new devices will hit the market soon and hopefully, before Google outs Android 6.0

But the new smartphones will barely get any time in the limelight because Google’s software roll out for older Nexus devices begins pretty early this time. Coming to the devices, the list of supported ones with include, the Nexus 5, the Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and the Nexus Player. Yes, Nexus 4 owners will finally have a reason to ditch their smartphones this year since the update will not be available for them along with the Nexus 7 (2012) and the Nexus 10 (Samsung).

But this is Android, so one can expect unofficial ports to show up sooner or later, so don’t fret just yet.

5 Health Benefits Of Pumpkin Seeds

Here's why you should make them a part of your diet.

For A Good Heart:

A quarter cup of pumpkin seeds contains nearly half of the recommended daily amount of magnesium that is essential for your heart formation and maintanence. It helps control your blood pressure and prevent sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke.

Improves Immune System:

A rich source of zinc, pumpkin seeds help to regulate the immune system and decrease the risk of viral infections like cold and flu, chronic fatigue, depression, among others.

Maintains Prostate Heath

Since ages, pumpkin seeds have been considered as an important natural food for men's health. Due to their high zinc content, which is important for prostate health (where it is found in the highest concentrations in the body), research suggests that both pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin seeds may be particularly beneficial in supporting prostate health as well as treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, or enlarged prostate).

Reduces Risk Of Diabetes

According to research, pumpkin seeds may help in improving insulin regulation, thereby preventing diabetic complications by decreasing oxidative stress.

Regulate Sleep:
Having pumpkin seeds a few hours before bed, along with a small piece of fruit, is especially beneficial as it provides your body the tryptophan needed for your melatonin and serotonin production to help promote a restful night's sleep.

Foods To Avoid During Gastritis

A specially designed gastritis diet plan will always prove more than helpful for people suffering from this condition. Along with your personalized diet plan, you must consider the following instructions while you're sorting through the foods to avoid during gastritis.

Keep in mind the following things before you pick a platter when your stomach is suffering from gastritis:
  1. Avoid, at all costs, deep-fried and fatty food.
  2. Don't have pickles, peppers, spicy and very salty food products.
  3. Avoid vinegar and food items made using vinegar.
  4. Cut on caffeine, alcoholic drinks, citric acid drinks and mustard. It is a myth that soft drinks help in gastritis. Reality is, they don't.
  5. Include foods rich in flavonoids, such as apples, cranberries, garlic and onions as they help in curbing the growth of gastritis-causing bacteria.
  6. Avoid high fat and high cholesterol foods as they are pretty hard on the digestive system and can certainly aggravate the condition.
  7. Avoid gorging on meat like beef, fried fish and pork.
  8. Avoid dairy products like milk shakes, sour creams, cheese and icecreams.
  9. Avoid heavy chocolate chip cookies, butter biscuits, cakes, donuts, brownies and other baked food items.
  10. Don't overload your stomach. A simple vegetable stew will help you the most.

Dried Plums Can Cut Colon Cancer Risk

Through our research, we were able to show that dried plums promote retention of beneficial bacteria throughout the colon, and by doing so they may reduce the risk of colon cancer," said Nancy Turner, professor at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, US.

Previous research has shown that disruptions to the microbiota are involved in the initiation of intestinal inflammation and recurrence of inflammatory bouts that can promote development of colon cancer. "Our research explored the potential cancer-protective properties of dried plums using a well-established rat model of colon cancer," Turner said.

"Dried plums contain phenolic compounds, which have multiple effects on our health, including their ability to serve as antioxidants that can neutralise the oxidant effect of free radicals that can damage our DNA," she noted.

The rats were fed a control diet or a diet containing dried plums, and both diets were matched for total calories and macronutrient composition so that the effect due to diet would be attributed to compounds uniquely found in the dried plums, Derek Seidel, doctoral graduate student and research assistant for Turner who assisted in the study said.

The intestinal contents and tissues from different segments of the colon were examined.

"From this study we were able to conclude that dried plums did, in fact, appear to promote retention of beneficial microbiota and microbial metabolism throughout the colon, which was associated with a reduced incidence of precancerous lesions," Turner said in a statement released by Texas A&M University on Friday.

Beauty Tips: Beauty Benefits of Green Tea Bags

Just sipping this tea is not the only benefit you have. This packed small tea bag can work wonders for your skin. Read on to find out more...

For Your Eyes Only

Don't throw away the tea bags and instead, cool them and place them over your eyes for relief. Green tea contains tannin, an astringent that miraculously shrinks skin. The cool tea bags reduce the swelling around your eyes and tighten the skin, making you look and feel fabulous.

Scrub It On

Since it helps tighten the skin, making a green tea facial scrub out of the used tea is very good for the face. Mix green tea with granulated sugar and water, and you have an exfoliating scrub. It is all natural and thus light on the skin and gives you an incredible glow. You can store the scrub in the fridge to keep it fresh for longer.

Face Mask

Mix equal amounts of baking soda and green tea and a bit of honey to make a facial mask. Honey helps in rejuvenating your skin and green tea, as mentioned, tightens the skin. Baking soda is a good exfoliator and helps detox the skin.

In case you're short on time and cannot apply the face mask, heat water and run the tea bag over it till it starts to steam. Squeeze out most of the water and rub the bag over your face for a few minutes for an instant glow.

For Your Hair

Yes, a green tea rinse is good for your mane as well and gives your hair a great shine. Put a few green tea bags in boiling water and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Leave it overnight. The next morning, pour this water on damp hair and leave it for 10 minutes. You can massage your scalp if you like. Rinse it off and apply shampoo later as usual, but make sure to use a sulphate-free product.

Fast and Furious: There Will Be Three More Films!

He’s always had an amazing relationship with his fans, and Vin Diesel took to Facebook over the weekend to keep his followers up-to-date on the progress of “Fast and Furious 8.” While expressing his desire to make each of his films the best it can be, the “Pacifier” hunk also indicated that there will be a “trilogy” of “Fast” films on the way, meaning Parts 8, 9 and 10.

Vin wrote, “The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world. Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way… literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you. My producing partner Neal [H. Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled.

To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm ‘Fast 8′ yet… let alone seen a script. Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga. I will announce the directors on my next post…”

Jake Gyllenhaal’s “Everest” Criticized By Expedition Survivor

Over the weekend, Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in “Everest” helped it to land in the top five box office films, but one viewer was decidedly not impressed in the least. Jon Krakauer, who survived the ill-fated 1996 expedition to climb Mount Everest and later went on to write a book about it titled “Into Thin Air,” told the Los Angeles times that he has major concerns about the movie adaptation.

Krakauer declared, "It's total bull. Anyone who goes to that movie and wants a fact-based account should read Into Thin Air... People told me, 'Movies never get made. Take the money. What do you have to lose?' I curse myself for selling it (the book rights) at all... Dramatic films take dramatic license, and when you sign a document, you can do whatever you want with me. It wasn't worth the money I got."

Gigi Hadid: Hey Haters, I Belong On the Runway!

It’s no secret that models get criticized all the time, and Gigi Hadid is tired of having to defend her place in the fashion industry. The beautiful 20-year-old poser took to her Instagram account on Monday (September 28) to give naysayers a piece of her mind- “So many people are so quick to comment negative opinions this month. Yes, judgement on social media comes from people who, 99% of the time, have no idea what they’re talking about, but I’m human, and I’m not going to lie, I did let the negativity get to me a little. No, I don’t have the same body type as the other models in the shows. No, I don’t think I’m the best at any given show. Yes, I want to have a unique walk, but I also know I have to improve. No, I’m not the first or the last model of my type in this industry.”

Gigi continued, “You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for change. I’m just doing my job. I represent a body image that wasn’t accepted in high-fashion before, and I’m very lucky to be supported by the designers, stylists, and editors that I am: ones that know this is fashion, it’s art, it can never stay the same. It’s 2015. But if you’re not one of those people, don’t take your anger out on me. Yes, I have boobs. I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m fitting into sample sizes.

Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body, they don’t make me want to say no to the designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don’t change the designers opinions of me. If they want me in their show, I’m in it. If they don’t, I’m not. That’s just how it is and how it will be. If you don’t like it, don’t follow me, don’t watch me, cause I’m not going anywhere. If I didn’t have the body, I do, I wouldn’t have the career I do. I love that I can be sexy. I’m proud of it.”

Zendaya Gushes Over Her New Barbie Doll!

She’s been an inspiration for throngs of fans over the years, and now Zendaya Coleman has a Barbie doll that’s been fashioned after her own image. Over the weekend, the “K.C. Undercover” posted several shots of the new figure via Instagram and it looks like Mattel definitely got it right.

Zendaya stated, "When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my…how times have changed. Thank you @barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be a part of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty. Can't wait to keep doing amazing things with you."

“Hotel Transylvania 2” Sets New Record Opening!

Gearing up for the Halloween season, “Hotel Transylvania 2” hit theaters over the weekend and raked in a record-setting $47.5 million. The Adam Sandler flick is a follow-up to the 2012 original, starring Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman and David Spade.

Meanwhile, the box office top five for the weekend included “The Intern” ($18.2 million), “Maze Runner: Scorch Trials” ($14 million), “Everest” ($13.1 million) and “Black Mass” ($11.5 million).

Mr. Brown has a long history of fun and shenanigans at Drai’s over the years- back in May he fell off the stage while dancing during his 26th birthday party. Thankfully he wasn’t hurt and everyone had a good laugh.

Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting: We’re Getting Divorced!

Adding another celebrity split to the ever-growing heap, Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting are calling it quits on their marriage less than two years in. Marc Jacobs Snags Adriana Lima For Sultry New Spread

He’s always been a fan of going his own way, and Marc Jacobs wouldn’t settle for anything less than the best for his new campaign- hence, he hired Adriana Lima. The Brazilian knockout is all kinds of sexy in the just-released images, wearing flirty black frocks and captivating the camera with her unforgettable eyes.

Of his decision to recruit Lady Lima, Marc told ELLE'sOctober 2015 issue, “I wanted this Liz Taylor-esque, almost squirmy sex appeal, this sultriness, and Adriana does give that. It's a spirit that I'd like to believe exists in everybody. How people turn it on and how they see it, that's up to them.

Even with Sofia Coppola, she'll put on a pair of heels and a dress, and she'll be like, ‘Ooh, I feel so adult and so grown up.’ Or she'll wear a mink coat and be like, ‘Oh, we're having one of our adult dinners.’ Me and my friends, we all go through that kind of thing—we know that we're still the same people, but we use clothes, we use situations, we kind of romantically, in our heads, go to something we know as ‘grown-up’ or ‘sexy.’ We're amused and entertained and delighted by playing the part. I think about Sally Bowles in Cabaret—this awkward giddiness of playing at a decadent lifestyle.”

Shanina Shaik Sizzles for KOOKAI’s Summer 2015

Never short on sex appeal, Shanina Shaik is the star of the Summer 2015 swimwear spread for the Australian label KOOKAI. The always-gorgeous poser lets her incredible body do all the work as she works her magic for the camera while wearing a variety of beach-ready ensembles.

Shanina previously confessed that while she may seem confident in front of the camera, there’s plenty of pre-shoot preparation- “I have to be in my lingerie so I cut out alcohol and train extra hard before a show... I'm not that much of a drinker, anyway, you feel so much better when you don't drink. I'm a normal person, I have my insecurities... I hit the gym two to three months before.

It's important to do that because it shocks your body. Sometimes when you keep a workout consistent nothing will change so you always have to mix it up a little. I like to do boxing for cardio, jump rope and cycling, and now I've started doing yoga as we well. It's a great way to keep strength in your body and keep yourself long and lean as well.”

Muscle Building Diet Tips For Vegetarians

Muscle building can be a difficult exercise, if you are a vegetarian. But Arnav Sarkar, our fitness expert and strength and conditioning coach from Kolkata shares with us a list of muscle building foods for vegetarians.

This muscle building diet includes carbohydrates, protein and fats, which are necessary for bodybuilding.

Muscle Building With Carbohydrates

Potatoes: The humble potato is a favourite among foodies and fitness enthusiasts. Potatoes that are prepared with less oil or baked provide us with carbohydrates without the unnecessary calories. Potatoes also contain potassium, which prevents muscle cramps.

Brown rice: It is a rich source of complex carbohydrates that energises us during weight training. Brown rice also contains iron, calcium and fibre that are necessary for building bones and cell growth.

Bananas: This fruit is not fattening and the best vegetarian 'snack' for building muscles. Bananas are also a rich source of potassium, which is good for sore muscles.

Milk: Drink a tall glass of milk after your workout. It is a good source of protein, calcium and vitamin D. Milk also improves digestive problems and strengthens the bones.

Cheese: Fermented milk is far richer in vitamins and minerals. Cheese in general contains calcium, potassium, vitamin A and B and manganese, making it a perfect post workout snack. But cheese also contains sodium, which is unhealthy in large portions.

Yoghurt: It is similar to cheese, but the nutrition value is different. Yoghurt is rich in protein, potassium, vitamin B and calcium and contains less sodium compared to cheese.

Muscle Building With Protein

Beans: There are several types of beans and they roughly provide carbohydrates, proteins, potassium, fibre, calcium, vitamin B and manganese.

Tofu: Tofu is a by-product of soybean and it has high levels of calcium and iron. But this muscle building ingredient also contains potassium, protein and manganese.

Broccoli And Spinach: This vegetable is a superfoods with several health benefits. It contains protein, calcium, vitamin C and vitamin B.

Muscle building with Fats

Nuts: Walnuts, cashews, peanuts, almonds and pistachios, are also good for muscle building. They also contain carbohydrates, protein and fibre in varying amounts.

Coconut Oil: This oil helps burn fats, so it is a great oil to cook with.

Olive Oil: It is monounsaturated oil that lowers bad cholesterol or LDL. It also contains antioxidants and increases energy.

Beauty Tips: Some Tips To Take Care of Permed Hair

If you have recently permed your hair, there are some things you need to keep in mind. First of all, permed hair requires deep conditioning, to help retain its texture. Also, permed hair can be washed only 24-48 hours after the process is over. So, here are some tips to maintaining permed hair.
In the initial days, avoid tying your hair with hairties or tight clips, as they tend to reshape your hair with dents. Leave your hair loose.

Conditioners do not affect your perm or ruin it.So, use the right conditioner after every shampoo, preferably one that is meant for chemically treated hair.

Air dry your hair as far as possible. Avoid blow drying your hair as it can lead to fragility .

Protect your hair from the sun by covering your hair in a scarf when you step out. Also use a cap, if you will be swimming, to avoid exposure to chlorine.

Watch The New iPhone Get Dissected

The teardown reveals some interesting things: The iPhone 6S Plus is heavier than last year's offering, the camera is beefier and nicer, yadda yadda. Mostly, the video is worth watching as a sobering reminder that the personal technology we ascribe such meaning to is little more than a mashup of cold metal parts.

Google's Android Under Antitrust Investigation

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is investigating whether Google Inc is using its Android mobile operating system to stifle competition, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday. The Android mobile platform is a key element in Google's strategy to maintain revenue from online advertising as people switch from Web browser searches to smartphone apps, and action by U.S. regulators would be a big problem for the company.

Reuters reported in April that some technology companies had complained to the U.S. Department of Justice about Google's anti-competitive practices and urged the regulator to investigate allegations that Google unfairly uses its Android system to win online advertising.

Google previously tangled with the FTC over Web search allegations and reached a settlement in 2013. The European Union has accused Google of distorting Web search results to favor its own shopping service as well, and is now probing the Android mobile operating system.

Google shares were up 0.5 percent at $657.93 in premarket trading. The new FTC probe focuses on whether Google is telling Android handset makers which Google apps they must show on their phones, and how and where they are displayed, the source said. The FTC and the DOJ just met to discuss who would probe Google and agreed that the FTC would take the case. The probe is in very early stages, the source said.

8 Underwear Mistakes Bad For Your Health

Mistake #1: Too-tight underwear

Not only is too-tight underwear generally unflattering (hello, visible bulges and puckering), but it can also promote chafing of the skin and vaginal irritation, especially if you’re post-menopausal. “For women who are menopausal, their vaginal walls tend to be thin,” says Raquel B. Dardik, M.D., clinical associate professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Medical Center. From that perspective, any underwear that’s tight enough to rub your skin can result in irritation, she explains. “If your skin doesn’t get irritated, then great — tight underwear won’t hurt you. But if you do get irritated because of friction, then it’s not recommended.”

Mistake #2: Shapewear

If your tight undergarment happens to be shapewear, like the popular hip- and tummy-slimming kinds or waist-cinching corsets, you run the risk of health complications beyond your appearance. “If it’s really tight, you could have nerve impingement and decreased circulation,” says Donnica Moore, M.D., a women’s health expert, who speculates that tight girdles and shapers can even produce numbness or tingling in your extremities. Furthermore, shapewear is notoriously difficult to take off. “Shapewear makes it very difficult to go to the bathroom, so when women wear them, they tend to hold it more than they should,” she says.

Mistake #3: Synthetic Fabrics And Silk

When it comes to material, experts agree that your personal preference can dictate the fabric—as long as you make sure the crotch is lined with cotton. “Most of the underwear that’s available is fairly breathable,” says Dr. Dardik. “As long as they have a cotton liner where the vaginal area is, you’ll be fine.” But if you’re looking for optimal underwear conditions, steer clear of synthetic materials, and only wear silk on special occasions. “Silk and synthetic fabrics are not breathable, which increases the risk of moisture being trapped and retained, which can create a yeast or bacterial infection,” says Dr. Moore.

Mistake #4: Thongs

Even if thong underwear is more your granddaughter’s speed than yours, keep this tip in mind: If you have a propensity to get yeast or bacterial infections, thongs will only make things worse. “Thongs can be a unique transport vehicle for bacteria from the back to the front,” says Dr. Moore, referring to the spread of E. coli from the anus to the vaginal area. “There’s a lot of movement with the thongs, sliding back and forth—it doesn’t stay in place,” she says.

Dr. Dardik agrees: “Thong underwear can be more irritating, because it has more contact with vaginal and vulval area, but that doesn’t mean women can’t wear them — you just have to find right type for you,” she says. Meaning, if you like wearing thongs and they don’t cause you discomfort, then go for it. “Just because women become grandmothers, it doesn’t mean they need to wear big ‘granny’ underwear,” she adds.

Mistake #5: Underwear at night

Most experts are proponents of sleeping in completely the nude — as long as you’re comfortable in your birthday suit. “Though it’s a matter of personal preference, from the perspective of breathing and airing things out, you should sleep without underwear,” says Dr. Moore. For women who are going through menopause, going underwear-less may make even more sense. “The more you wear, the more you have to take off when you get night sweats,” she says. No one wants to linger in cold, wet panties once a hot flash passes.

Mistake #6: “Going commando” during the day

If breathable underwear is good, is wearing no underwear better? In a word: no. “No underwear causes a whole host of other problems, particularly because clothing doesn’t tend to have a liner,” says Dr. Dardik. “For one, if you’re wearing pants, the seam sits right in the vulval area and will constantly be rubbing the area,” which can irritate sensitive tissue. Secondly, the natural moisture produced by the vagina has nowhere to go when you’re not wearing underwear. “If you are wearing dresses or skirts, there’s nothing there to absorb vaginal moisture,” she adds. “Then you can become hot and sweaty down there, which, in itself, can irritate the skin. In theory [no underwear] makes sense, until you think of the details.”

Mistake #7: Sweaty undies

Women and men who tend to sweat should change their underwear regularly — twice a day, as opposed to once a day for people who typically stay dry. And anyone who works out should put on a clean pair of undies as soon as they’re able. “A warm, moist environment is the perfect place for yeast to grow,” says Dr. Moore, who recommends that sweat-prone people invest in underwear made of moisture-wicking material and avoid cotton underwear, which tends to stay wet once it gets wet. “All of these problems are compounded if you have incontinence to any degree — even a drop or two,” says Dr. Moore. “When you work out, you can try wearing a panty liner. That way, if you’re not in a position to change underwear, at least you can change the panty liner or take it off.”

Mistake #8: Non-hypoallergenic detergent

Have unexplained itching in an uncomfortable place? Even if you don’t consider yourself to have sensitive skin, your vaginal area may disagree. “Another common irritation is a form of contact dermatitis,” says Dr. Moore. “The No. 1 cause of that is your laundry detergent. The tissues that your panties come in to contact with are a lot more sensitive than your elbows.” She also identifies dryer sheets as irritation culprits. “Many brands have a very high concentration of perfumes in them,” she continues. “I don’t know why we need our vaginas to smell like a garden, but I recommend that women use hypoallergenic cleaning products as much as possible.” Dr. Dardik concurs, the milder the better.

The good news

While you can make mistakes with the undergarments you choose to wear, infection typically isn’t a big concern for women over 50. “The good news about menopause is that your pH changes, making you less likely to get yeast infections and bacterial infections,” says Dr. Dardik.

Smart underwear habits mostly boil down to personal preference, how easily your skin gets irritated, and your propensity for infection. “With all of these questions, it’s not like we have a wealth of double blind placebo trials to rely on,” says Dr. Moore. “It’s mostly conventional wisdom with a little medical thoughtfulness. Vaginal health depends on a lot of factors.”

Easy Tips To Stay Fit At 40

If you have a sedentary life style and have just hit the big F, don't frown every time you see yourself in the mirror and notice the bulges. That extra flab can be made to disappear with a little extra effort.

You don't have to really sweat it out in a gym to stay in shape. A few smart tips is all you need
  • If you are not a morning person, don't set your alarm at an unearthly hour. Get up at your scheduled time and do some free-hand, stretches and yoga for half an hour.
  • Try doing low to medium intensity cardio exercises to burn extra fat and increase your metabolism.
  • Walk for half an hour to begin with. If you feel bored going alone, ask a friend/someone from your family. Better still, offer to buy the morning veggies and walk to the nearest market.
  • Do some warm-ups before you start the real exercise
  • Carry a bottle of water with you when you head for a morning walk/jog
  • Don't go exercising on an empty stomach. Have a couple of low fat biscuits or an apple.
  • Never go out for a walk immediately after dinner/breakfast.
  • Take the stairs, avoid the lift. You can climb six storeys five times at a stretch then that's equivalent to a 30 minute jog!
It's important to follow a routine when you start exercising so that you can discipline yourself. Don't see it like a task, try and think of the positive: you get to lose weight and fit into that pair of jeans you've liked.

Don't over-tire yourself. Gradually give yourself more time - from 20 minutes to 40 and then an hour.
