Microsoft ups free OneDrive storage to 15GB

Microsoft has announced changes to OneDrive’s pricing and storage deals, offering customers better value on cloud services. Free OneDrive storage has increased to 15GB, up from the previous 7GB, and the price for 100GB extra space has dropped to just £1.99 per month.

Microsoft also says that storage bundled with their Office 365 subscriptions will increase to 1TB, starting at £5.99 a month for Office 365 Personal. “The landscape is changing to the point that we believe it’s no longer enough to provide only cloud storage — that’s table stakes,” says Omar Shahine, Principal Group Program Manager at One Drive.

“We want to provide a complete experience that brings in the power of Office and lets you do more with everything you put in your OneDrive - whether it’s sharing your favorite photos with the people you care about in one simple click or working together in real time on an important project.”
Office 365 Home includes up to five users, and now costs £7.99 a month, with the 1TB cloud storage inclusive.

Microsoft is also offering a university package at £59.99 for four years, also including the extra storage.
Refer-a-friend has not changed with the update, meaning users can still gain 500MB storage per accepted invite, up to a cap of 5GB. An extra 3GB is also available for users that enable the camera back up feature.
