Nike's set up a bunch of vending machines around NYC brimming with swoosh gear that only the most active New Yorkers can snag. Dubbed the 'Fuelbox', Nike's pop-up machines are stocked with Nike goods that can only be purchased using Fuelband points.
Each item costs somewhere in the region of 500-1000 Fuelband points, with shirts, socks, watches, and more up for grabs. The Fuelboxes are only staying up until their stock clears completely so would-be Fuel-traders better hurry.
Interestingly,
the vending machines only accept Fuelpoints earned within the last
24-hours, meaning you can't just unload a backlogged surplus of points
onto the Fuelbox in exchange for heaps of goddies. Rumours emerged back in April
that Nike was ditching Fuelband altogether, so news of the NYC
Fuelboxes seems an altogether odd move from the kicks-flogging company.
