Luxury smartphone manufacturer Vertu has announced a new
five-year partnership with Bentley Motors to produce a new range of
wallet-chunking high-end mobile devices. The first 'Vertu
for Bentley' smartphone will launch in October, with another four
luxury handsets scheduled for release in the future.
We
still don't know what the device will look like, but Vertu says the
phones will incorporate Bentley design elements, and teams from both
companies will work together to plan out the new smartphones. We assume
they're thinking svelte and premium, not a phone with four wheels and a
custom license plate.
“The collaboration expands
Bentley’s luxury range into the cutting-edge world of mobile communications and offers customers a new way to experience the world of
Bentley," says Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors.
The
new partners hope to create a Vertu phone that works in sync with
Bentley cars, and plan to ship the handsets with a dedicated app that
does just that. “Exclusive Bentley content will appeal to
drivers, travelers and brand enthusiasts, through a partnership that
delivers on both technology and touch. Today, we see the marriage of two
great brands with an international presence and quintessential British
heritage and character."
There's no word on specs or
price point just yet, but from Vertu's track record, it's safe to bet
you'll be looking at the cost of a small car to pick up one of the
Bentley blowers. You can pick up a Vertu phone today from
500 locations worldwide, including 70 Vertu-only boutiques. These
stores will be your first port of call if you're looking to shell out a
small fortune on the Vertu by Bentley
smartphone in October.
