iPad Mini 3 could launch before Christmas

Apple is reportedly planning to release the iPad Mini 3 before the end of the year. It was widely suggested that Apple would stick with the current iPad Mini 2 until 2015, although it seems the braniacs over at Cupertino have had a change of heart.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo says, “We previously thought Apple would not release a new version of the iPad Mini this year, but we now think Apple will launch an upgraded version with the same form factor.”

Kuo’s confident prediction comes from having spoken with “claimed insiders” – although this is the first we’ve heard of this so take it with a pinch of salt for now. He also added “We think the upgraded iPad Air will be launched earlier in 2014 than the iPad Air was in 2013.”

Given the positive critical reception of the iPad Air and the iPad Mini 2, it’s doubtful Apple’s going to make any radical changes to its tablet duo. Back in June, we came across a purported leaked photo of the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 with the Touch ID ring on the Home button.

This suggest Apple’s tablets will sport the fingerprint sensor, which also features on the recently-launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. iOS 8 and the new A8 processor are some of the most likely things to be adopted on the new generation of Apple tablets.
