Right Way To do A Juice Cleanse

What's a juice cleanse?

In this detox diet, a person consumes only the juices of fruits and vegetables and refrains from eating anything solid. You don't even consume the pulp of the fruit or vegetable. Apple, carrot, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, lemon, beetroot, wheat grass etc. are some fruits and veggies that are generally used in this diet.

Best time for it

Go for a juice cleanse when you're relatively stress-free. So ideally, do it on a long weekend when you can focus on relaxing while you detox. Since this diet will require a large quantity of fruits, veggies and herbs, make sure your raw ingredients are fresh, clean, organic and pesticide-free.

How to start

3 days before the cleanse:

Since your body is going to undergo an intense detox, to prepare for it, avoid the intake of fried and processed foods, aerated drinks, caffeine, alcohol, sugar and salt. Also, don't consume dairy products, eggs, fish, shellfish, chicken, beef, pork and all other flesh meats. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

During the cleanse:

- Begin your day with a glass of water with lemon.
- Drink at least six juices per day in two-hour intervals.

3 days after the cleanse:

Day 1: Add fruits, greens to your diet and drink eight glasses of water.
Day 2: Add nuts, gluten-free grains.
Day 3: Add organic meats, fish and gluten grains.
Tip: Don't follow a hardcore exercise regime, as it will end up making you weak. A short walk or simple yoga movements will allow you to take your mind off any hunger symptoms and will stimulate digestive movement.
