Jony Ive becomes Chief Design Officer of Apple

Jony Ive served as a Senior Vice President of Design over the past few years in Apple. He is credited with penning some of the Cupertino giant’s most successful products. Two executives will take over the management of industrial and software design in Apple from Jony Ive on July 1 – Allan Dye and Richard Howarth. The former is the VP of User Interface Design, while Howarth is a VP of Industrial Design with focus on hardware.

Mr. Ive will rain in charge of the software and hardware design units at Apple. However, his new position will also allow him to take charge of designing Apple retail stores, as well as aspects of the company’s new campus.
