Everyday Pre-workout Energy Boosters

Smoothies

Neither are they heavy on your stomach nor do they make you feel hungry. Smoothies are a great choice simply because they are made of seasonal fruits and milk. They not only keep your stomach feeling full, but also give you the right energy to work out in the gym.

Yogurt

Amino acids help in muscle recovery, and yogurt has an excellent ratio of proteins to carbohydrates, which puts it on the list of must-haves. As far as hydration is concerned, experts say that the proteins in yogurt help in increasing the amount of water absorbed by the intestine.

Cottage Cheese

If you are someone who likes to walk or simply spend time on the treadmill, then cottage cheese can be your best friend. Though it's not an ideal healthy food before workouts, it's touted to prevent any sort of cardiovascular problems. As one cup of cottage cheese contains 18% calcium, it can be had in moderation.

Bananas

Loaded with digestible carbohydrates, bananas give you immediate energy before you start working out. When you perform strenuous exercises, you tend to sweat a lot. In this process, your body loses potassium, which is an excellent electrolyte regulator that maintains nerve and muscle function. The dietary fibre in bananas helps in digestion as well.

Oats

A great source for much-needed carbohydrates during your workout, oats are filled with soluble fibre. It curbs your hunger pangs even when eaten in moderate amounts. Oats also help you in losing weight.
