Beauty Tips: Best Home Remedies For Smooth And Silky Hair

Celebrity Hairdresser Asgar Saboo shares with us, expert tips on caring for your hair at home without having to pay for expensive treatments and latest conditioners and shampoos.

Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

Coconut oil is a tried and tested treatment for thick, silky hair. If you are looking for a hair treatment that you don't need to wash out, then coconut oil is the one for you. Asgar says that during your everyday life, elements such as sun and rain, changing temperatures etc degrade the proteins in your hair. Using coconut oil could protect these proteins. Use sparingly though, as the greasy look is not desirable, you want just enough to create the glossy look. You can do this by filling up a spray bottle that diffuses the oil evenly.

Beer Treatment

Yes... Beer! The two main ingredients in beer hops and malt are proteins that can help reinforce hair and the sugar in the beer helps close your hair's cuticle. When the cuticles are closed a smoother hair shaft is produced, which lets light travel along each strand, thereby creating that shiny sought after appearance. Make sure that your beer has gone flat, for this leave 400ml of beer in a bowl and use it during your shower.

Wash your hair with shampoo and then apply the beer to your hair making sure to coat all hair strands from root to tip. Massage the beer well into your scalp using circular motions and let it sit in your hair for about 2 minutes and then rinse it off. Then use conditioner to get rid of any traces of the beer scent. When your hair dries, you will notice your hair is shiny, easier to style, and full of bounce.

Grapeseed Oil

Winter and in-door heaters and air conditioners can leave your hair dry, dull and frizzy. For smooth silky hair, try using grapeseed oil, as the regenerative properties contained in grapeseed oil work wonders for your hair as well as nourish the scalp. It also leaves your hair cuticle smooth, by sealing in moisture and giving your hair a smoother and shinier finish. Asgar says it is greasy but not as heavy as olive oil. It is essentially neutral in scent and lightweight and leaves hair feeling thicker. Each strand will feel as if it has been coated with another layer of hair so it makes hair feel heavier and healthier. ?Just take as much as you feel you need and run it through your hair with your fingers from root to tip.
