Why Should Men Do Yoga ?

Yoga was mainly practiced by men and women were not encouraged to learn or practice it. Now, on the other hand, most yoga practitioners across the world are women! There is a misconception among men nowadays that yoga is a soft practice more suited to women.

Also, most men struggle in a yoga class due to lack of flexibility which also keeps them away from yoga classes. It is extremely beneficial for men to practice yoga and they should make yoga a part of their lives in some way or the other.

FLEXIBILITY

Men are better in strength but less flexible compared to women. Flexibility is a very important part of an all-round fit person. Even men who want to focus more on strength or stamina as a part of their fitness regime should complement their workouts with yoga to enhance their flexibility, alignment of the spine, posture, balance and breathing which are all very integral to complete holistic fitness.

STAYING YOUTHFUL

Regular yoga practice makes one look and feel much younger. One acquires suppleness, lightness, agility, glowing skin as well as enhanced energy and creativity. Even men are using a lot of products these days to look attractive and youthful. Whereas these act superficially, the results of yoga are inside-out. Advanced yoga practice conserves a lot of energy giving the practitioner a radiant magnetic aura.

BETTER PERFORMANCE IN BED

The physical as well as meditative aspect of yoga enhances any performance that requires effortless action, mindfulness, being relaxed, focused, creative and totally in the moment - all at once. Performance in activities like sports, theatre acting, photography as well as 'lovemaking' are all highly enhanced with the practice of yoga. Advancement in the art of yoga enables you to get better at the art of making love. The awareness of your breathing and increased sensitivity of the body adds another dimension to it.

KEEPING DISEASES AND INJURIES AT BAY

Men are prone to high blood pressure and other lifestyle related diseases as well as injuries due to muscle stiffness. Yoga acts both as a preventive and curative practice for lifestyle and stress related diseases. It counters the negative effects of today's fast paced life on our health. Apart from making the body supple which reduces chances of injuries and common back problems, yoga also improves the functioning of internal organs and the digestive system.

MAXIMISING POTENTIAL

Everyone today wants to find his true calling and excel at what he does. The meditative aspect of yoga not only helps one find clarity and his true calling, it also helps one to maximise his true potential. Whether you are an artist, sportsperson, professional or an entrepreneur - the focus, effortlessness and clarity that practicing yoga brings will help you get to another level altogether by enabling you to harness your untapped potential.

DE-STRESS AND RELAX

Many of us are starting to believe in working hard and then partying hard to unwind. Both drain energy and take a toll on the body and mind. Yoga teaches us tools to relax deeply and to unwind and re-charge our batteries in the true sense. Making yoga a part of life helps us find peace within ourselves. No matter how fast paced our lives, when we center our mind on a regular basis during yoga practice, it enhances our quality of life and the quality of activities we choose to unwind - such as sports, travel, music, reading or just relaxing in the lap of nature.
