Christina Hendricks & Charlize Theron Team Up for “Dark Places”

Showing some love for their West Coast fans, Charlize Theron and Christina Hendricks showed up at the Harmony Gold Theater on Tuesday night (July 21). The “Italian Job” stunner and the “Mad Men” star were in the house to premiere their new flick “Dark Places,” adapted from the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, slated to hit theaters on August 7th.

Ms. Hendricks told press that while she originally tried out for the role of Krissi Cates, a stripper with plenty of secrets, she ended up playing Theron’s character’s mom Patty Day. "I got there and was doing a hair and makeup test [as Krissi] and was putting on this long blonde wig, and then they said, 'Charlize and Gilles [Paquet-Brenner, the director] would like to see you on set.' And I thought, 'Okay, they're not going to like the wig, I get it.’ They said, 'We lost our Patty. And we were wondering if you want to play Patty Day instead of Krissi.’ I came about it in a very odd way . . . [and] it threw me for a loop, but it ended up working out."
